Hanya beberapa minggu lepas saya diperkenalkan kepada Chess.com oleh sahabat catur saya iaitu Anuar yg kali terakhir saya bertemu pada Catur Ahad Pertama UTM Januari 2010.

Beberapa sessi sparring blitz 5 minit secara online dan unrated menyaksikan beliau teruk dibelasah saya. Anuar sebenarnya seorang pencatur yang jauh lebih baik dari saya jika bermain rapid. Ditambah dengan masalah "connection interrupted" beliau terpaksa akur dengan kelicikan saya untuk memperoleh kemenangan masa beberapa kali. 

Di sini saya ingin kongsikan game Sicilian yang saya menangi.. Tak tahulah sicilian apa ni... dah penat nak study variation.. tengok mcm scheveningen..mcm najdorf...

Giant Chess Skudai Tournament..VERY CHEAP!!!!

On 23rd of November I got a SMS from Mr Leong Mun Wan bout the chess tournament that will be held at Giant Skudai.

Registration Fee was only RM 15. This is a good news for those who never had a chance to take a part in previous tournaments where the fees are comparable to their lunch&dinner set.

Hopefully there are so many newbies join this upcoming tournament.

Masuk hari ni dah hampir dua bulan aku bukak internet cafe dengan seorang rakan aku. So, masa aku untuk ke hulu ke hilir macam dulu dah makin kurang. Ahad lepas salah sorang player kuat dari JB.. Mr. Leong Mun Wan call aku sebab ada mini tournament kat UTM. Hajat hati memang nak join. Bukan senang nak dapat sparring dengan group kuat2 ni. Tapi terpaksa aku tolak dengan hati yang agak berat. Apapun aku pasti join Kejohanan Catur Merdeka yg UTM buat lepas Hari Raya nanti. dah tiga tahun aku tak miss. Aku nak tebus kembali kekalahan teruk kat Plaza Pelangi hari tu.

Speed test

Kalau di Felda Air Tawar 5, club level players memang ramai.. tapi tulah, average umur diorang ni 30 - 40 tahun... semuanya setakat nak main kat club level je.. Berbuah mulut aku dan Zairulnizam (Zam Kunting) ajak diorang join tournament. Alasan diorang main suka-suka dan takde masa dan banyak kerja.



Kalau diorang semua pergi aku ingat team ni je boleh hantar 20 hingga 30 orang. Cukup untuk pecahkan dominasi player di Johor Bahru. Ini tak .. balik2 aku berdua je pergi... jadi lauk terus.. huhuhu. Diorang ni plak main tanpa jam. SO, kalau aku main dengan diorang kalau diorang nak take back after touch move aku terpaksa relakan. Tapi aku tetap pegang dengan standard rules.
So kalau diorang defeat aku lepas take back 2-3 kali aku tak regret. Lagi satu, kat club level kedai kopi Zairulnizam ni rata-rata main dengan mulut tak reti diam dan provoke lawan masing2. Sesuatu yang mustahil dilakukan dalam tournament hehee.. Kalau hati panas tak leh main la..

RM 3000 for the First Prize... WOW

19th April 2009 . . . Bandaraya Chessmaster Open. Admission Fee RM 60. First Prize worth RM 3000. Hmm.... This kind of sweet sugar will attract so many types of ants. Should I take a part? Let me consider first whether I can put myself under the top 15 or top 25 where top 5 from Singapore, top 5 from Phillipines, Top 20 from around Malaysia come and sit for the 7-round swiss tournaments held at Stadium Tertutup MBJB. I keep training and the hope is only a hope...

Somebody inside Johor, please do tournament for us... Now April already...

I hope we, chessplayers in Johor Bahru, could enjoy more tournaments in this short periods. Some of us got financial problems and very tight timetable. So many tournaments in side the JohorBahru held by Mr Narayanan, Mr Leong MunWan or Datuk Bandar. Hope other parties will take part in enhance development of chess games in our region .
